Going on what I can see in your build thread, they look very close in colour to yours. Taking into account that the GTS took over from the GT, there could very well have been a shared interior in the early stages. RE: GTS variations - abri - 09-29-2015 This 1973 model was for sale on gumtree in February 2013. It looked like a real timewarp example, so I saved all the pics. Note the early grille and shield badge ![]() .....and toiletbucket is hanging so that's where it will have to stay for now. Ok, it's back... Engine bay. Lockheed brake booster, same as the one used in the Mk2 S by all appearances. Looks like this one has had some performance conversion done on the air filtration system. It also still has its voltage control box which suggests the early ones used a dynamo. ![]() Looks like the engine bay had a coat of black paint over the red originally? Here's another engine bay shot. ![]() Interior with the famous 3 clock cluster and bucket seats. These seats may have been redone (?) The steering wheel also looks like it may be an aftermarket item. ![]() Compare it to this picture from the September 1973 article in Technicar ![]() Side view with Rostyles, original arches, chrome door mirror and Mk2 rear lights ![]() Technicar's side view in Sept 1973 with a bullet mirror and a center mounted reverse light. ![]() Rear view. Note reverse light and reflectors ![]() Some Technicar road test shots - "the Cooper S is alive and well" ![]() ![]() RE: GTS variations - theMINIguy - 09-29-2015 First one i've seen with a booster. RE: GTS variations - Miniac - 09-29-2015 Wow, that really does seem to be a timewarp car. The steering wheel definitely is an aftermarket type although there was a variety of stock wheels used over the production period ending with a solid non drilled version with the Leyland logo on the central boss cover for the late models. RE: GTS variations - abri - 09-29-2015 ![]() Then some pics of the GTS stripe in case it helps someone with their restoration ![]() A later model with 12" wheels, GTS hubcaps, original arches - another timewarp car, I think from '76. ![]() Engine bay - no brake booster with the 12" wheel setup and big disk brakes. Using an alternator. The proper GTS air filter box is also there. ![]() GTS air filter box with factory label and original winged nuts (as far as I know) ![]() Leyland badge on the black rocker cover, Champion plug caps on green Lucas HT leads. The rest of the motor seems to be the same grey as the 1098s of the same era. ![]() Reverse lights, one of these on each side. This was apparently before they became part of the rear light cluster. ![]() Later grille layout ![]() Bonnet sound deadening ![]() Nice view of the stripe across the bonnet with the 12" wheels & factory arches ![]() RE: GTS variations - Miniac - 09-30-2015 Some nice details in those shots Abri, thanks a mill. First time I've seen a GTS with sound deadening on the bonnet. RE: GTS variations - Jared Mk3 - 09-30-2015 I remember that red GTS being for sale. Was at a good price as well. I think that sound deadening stuff on the bonnet is aftermarket. Didn't they have that black sponge stuff? Or was that only the E's? Need to ask my dad about details on his GTS that he had in the '70s. RE: GTS variations - Vinay-RS - 09-30-2015 Any idea where that red GTS is now? Is it still on the road? RE: GTS variations - GTSPhil - 10-02-2015 Okay guys Thick steering wheel with holes in the spokes. Front and rear door cards in Tan. Correct inlet manifold for twin SU carbs with part number 12G2464 A nice GTS engine bay. Sound deadening looks to still be original. RE: GTS variations - Miniac - 10-02-2015 Some nice pics there Phil. I've never seen the steering with only 6 holes before, any idea which year model came out with it? |
