RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - Jared Mk3 - 12-03-2015 ^^^ Especially irritating in a quiet town when it's really dark. Blinded to no end.^^^ RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - Boyscout - 12-03-2015 I despise the aftermarket hid globes fitted to reflector lens lights. They blind oncoming traffic. These bulbs need to be fitted ton projector lens light fittings to work correctly. RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - Enzio - 12-04-2015 Jip, really inconsiderate (and illegal) to fit an HID kit in a normal light fitting. Do it right with projector housings or leave it be. RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - Sean1380 - 12-04-2015 100% agreement with everyone her RE HID kit. I remember, Tariq had a set on his Mini, when we came back from JHB a few years ago, we had me in front, with my normal H4 globes, Craig with only one working head light, and Tariq blinding the shyte out of everyone with the HIDs :-) LOL RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - Tiaan - 12-04-2015 With the HID you have to set the light lower than with normal halogen bulbs to avoid blinding on coming traffic. You still get better light with it set lower than with halogen at normal height. People put those kits in and don't adjust the light. You set them lower and the driver side light you adjust inwards then you are good to go. RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - Miniac - 12-05-2015 Think I'll test that theory out as I've got an H4 HID setup lying in the cupboard at home. I was planning on modifying a set of CFL Angeleye lamps to include a projector much like what Mark has done for his VTec build. Might make for an interesting comparison for me to see just what sort of difference the projectors make over halogen. RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - Enzio - 12-05-2015 Adjusting them down does nothing for the uncontrolled glare. HIDs belong in projector housings. Finished. RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - Tiaan - 12-06-2015 You can buy the projectors aftermarket to install or try and find an aftermarket projector light to fit in there. RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - Miniac - 12-07-2015 Mark(Shukran) has done a conversion on his diamond headlights to include aftermarket projectors for his Vtec mini. I've also managed to find just the projector's and I am planning on doing the same conversion for my GTS. RE: Converting from sealed beam to Halogen headlights - ChristiaanV - 05-31-2018 Planning on doing this conversion, I wonder if I'll be able to get the slightly curved lenses instead of flat ones to fit? So I should be able to use the existing loom to power/activate the relays, while running new thicker wires through the relay switch? I can draw negative from the body, and is it better to draw Positive from the battery or alternator, or just join it to where the rest of the loom draws it's power from? |
