Registration as a built-up? is this easier? - Giancarl03 - 05-24-2017 So the Mini I bought does not have papers and has been deregistered. It is is till on someone's name but tracing this person back is impossible. I am left with two choices now either go through the process as given by Abri in his post where I will have to pay the arrear license fees or, the other alternative, try and register it is as a built up car from various parts. Has anyone tried the "registering from different parts" method? RE: Registration as a built-up? is this easier? - Willy - 05-24-2017 Would love to see how this turns out. Have to also get a car reged with no papers what so ever. RE: Registration as a built-up? is this easier? - DomMINIque - 05-26-2017 Giancarl. If the car has been deregistered you'd have to go the built up route. If you have the title deed of the car then you can do a change of ownership and just pay the arrear license fees. But by the sounds of things you don't have any papers at all so your option is built up as per Abri's post. If I do go the built up route would it not be a problem if the chassis and engine no is already on their eNatis system? Or would I have to make a new chassis/vin and engine number? RE: Registration as a built-up? is this easier? - DomMINIque - 05-29-2017 Sorry it's taken so long to reply. Life is a bit hectic at the moment. If it is already on their system you skip part of the steps Abri mentions. As far as I know. I haven't done this myself yet but you should just be able to go for police clearance and data dot to get it changed onto your name. The procedure Abri mentions is from scratch basically - introducing it onto the system. Do yourself a favour and don't change any of the tags and if possible try not to tamper with any of them. If you get one of the staff members who is having a bad day they may make your life difficult accusing you of changing tags of the car (actually illegal in this country as much as many people may not think that is the case). Your best bet would be to start at the license department and ask them what the procedure is to go. And they should also be able to point you in the direction of the closest police clearance site with the relevant documentation that is required. RE: Registration as a built-up? is this easier? - u09521 - 05-29-2017 You need the RC1 and proof of sale with a copy of their ID from the owner that's on the system. It makes sense - you cannot go and de-register or register or scrap or change ownership without the official owners permission. If its on the system they will provide the details of the owner and hopefully you can still find them. If you can't, you have to write a registered letter to the official address on the system and wait for it to be returned to you as undeliverable. Then you can make an affidavit using the returned letter as the basis of proof that the owner can't be found. Then some process I don't have experience of happens, but I'm sure it will be long and frustrating. Only the official owner can request a copy of the RC1 and they must collect it in person from the relevant licensing office, so if you find them be nice. Only the official owner can scrap/deregister remove the vehicle from the system. In order to do that all the arrear license fees must be paid. If it was de-registered/scrapped you can re-register after getting police clearance, mass certificate, data dots, roadworthy cert (provided you have the scrapping/dereg certificate VDC) If you don't have a genuine RC1, and its on the system, there is basically no chance unless the official owner is involved. Don't be scammed by people who claim they have 'contacts' |
