New Mini owner - Stef_P - 02-27-2018 Hi everyone, I recently purchased a 1978 Mini Clubman. I didn't need another vehicle (having 3 garages of bikes and cars already) but a friend offered me it at a ridiculous price and the opportunity was too good to be missed on. Look forward to meeting other Mini owners based in Johannesburg in the future. RE: New Mini owner - Jared Mk3 - 02-27-2018 Welcome ![]() RE: New Mini owner - Vinay-RS - 02-28-2018 Welcome ![]() RE: New Mini owner - Stef_P - 02-28-2018 Thanks. I'll definitely post more pics soon. However, a question if I may, does anyone have any details of insurance companies that would insure this car? I've tried three insurance companies today and all of them won't insure the car because it's older than 30 years. RE: New Mini owner - Vinay-RS - 02-28-2018 Classic car insurance companies exist. Check with SAVVA. They get their insurance from one source. They have some strict requirements regarding usage and storage. I've been looking to get insurance for my Mini too. The biggest hurdle I'm facing is getting a valuation for the car. This has to be done by a reputable company that the insurance company recognises, and I'm struggling to find one. It's the company to insure the car I'm battling with. RE: New Mini owner - DomMINIque - 03-01-2018 Welcome. Very nice little car you've got there!!! Then I would contact one of the representatives at SAVVA, give them a call as they might miss your email. They will give you all the information you will need to set you on the right track. RE: New Mini owner - jimmyjamjar - 03-02-2018 For insurance you could try Hollard, providing you don't do more than 10,000 km per year and the car is older than 20 years and you get a value certification from a dealership they will insure and have some cool features like covering parts that have been removed for refurbishment and option to buy scrap if your vehicle is in an accident (shudder!! ) RE: New Mini owner - BettyBoop - 03-03-2018 (02-28-2018, 02:52 PM)Stef_P Wrote: Thanks. We have a 1971 Ford Ranchero insured with them and we will be making use of them for my 1982 Mini which we have just finished. |
