Hi from an old..new mini guy
#1
Hi All
my history with minis goes back quite a while but has been dormant for a while .
When I was 14 I wanted a bike but my mother nearly had a fit when I brought home a fifty cc Kriedler that I bought from the guy down the road . she said either the bike goes or you move out . So not being quite ready to move out at 14 I gave the bike back and made quite a loss.. Then  saved a bit more from working part timer at a camping shop
So I found a mini in the star classified (it was a 1960 850) and drove from Blairgowrie to Hillbrow on my bicycle to pay the guy. Got the papers but left the car where it was ... parked in the street. It had been there for quite a while .
That weekend I enlisted the help of my dad to drive it home . There the restoration started.I stripped everyrthing, even the gearbox and overhauled the whole car. eventually after the army ..6 years later it was done . I drove it to PMB and to Capetown and all over the country, eventually selling it and buying a Cortina bakkie.
this got my love for cars going
Recently my son turned 18 and got his drivers licence . He was set on buying a mini so we got a 1275e That is in really original  condition . Shortly after that i found a 1965 850 for a really good price so now we have 2
We are busy getting them both into top original condition in order to enjoy them fully.
That is why we are here and hoping you guys can help us and we can offer what we can

Welcome to the forum and back to the world of Minis Big Grin

That's an awesome first Mini to own. I wonder if it is still on the road today.

It's great that you're getting back into the Mini scene with an early Mini and a late model Mini as well. It's even cooler to hear that they'll both be getting full restorations. When you get a chance, post some pictures on the forum for us to see Smile

Welcome!. I see some good mini stories to be told. Let us have some pics too . I bought my daughter a 1275 just before she turned 18 and went to varsity, she called it Jemima Puddleduck which is still in the family 30 years on.
