K&N filter
#1
Greetings Miniacs!

Any idea where I can get a K&N air filter for my HS4 carb in Cape Town. I have phoned around but most stockists of K&N don't have any for the Mini. Song places have pancake filters but they are paper element filters and the mounting plate hole size is all wrong.

Try ATS up in Gauteng. I know it's a distance away, but they are a dealer for K&N and can get pretty much anything.

Masterparts in Kenilworth are distributers of K&N filters. You may have to take some measurements in your engine bay and perhaps take a carb along to find something that you can modify to work. I did that successfully for my 850. Tell them what size filter you need and let them bring samples to the desk for you to look at.

Abri and Jared Hi!

I have been in contact with both Masterparts and ATS but neither were able to help. I contacted Masterparts in Montagu Gardens so maybe they are not as helpful as Kenilworth and ATS just said No to both K&N and Simota.

But I have been thinking I might do what has been suggested on some forums and that is to use a K&N filter  element that fits in the existing Mini Air filter housing and then to drill a series of holes round the outer side of the unit to bring more air to the filter element.

Hi Jimmy

Classic mini shop South Africa were able to help me with a K&N for a weber that I could only find on ebay.

Maybe give them a call. 0727587740

Otherwise, ebay not a bad option, or Mnispares: http://www.minispares.com/shop/classic/f....aspx?1204

or mini sport: https://www.minisport.com/mini-mechanica...lters.html

Thanks for the reply,
I was hoping to get one locally as my subsidy of SA customs, DHL and Fedex has drained my mini restoration bucket. I still have a way to go with the rebuild so I guess the old air cleaner and filter element will have to do for now.

I agree Jimmy, Customs and Freight add a huge amount to the cost. I think classic mini shop quoted me around R 1800.00 for the K&N. (EXPENSIVE)

Just thinking, there is also Sports Car Center in Parktown: 011 646 1631 (Alan / Denise)

I have the standard Air filter housing with the K&N insert. From ATS.
