General running costs of a classic Mini
#1
I am a bit out of the loop with this as I haven't run my car for a long time...

Based on two categories:

- Daily car
- Weekend car

How much does it cost you to run your classic Mini? Fuel consumption? How often do you service? Cost of it? What breaks more than often? All the basic things that could cost you money. Insurance etc.

I'm keen on using my Mini every now and then as a daily when I feel like it. After sorting it out of course. Just keen to see what you guys think of the running costs of these cars vs more modern dailies.
Daily:    2008 Honda FR-V 1.8i Manual
Classic: 1966 Austin Mini 1000 Mk1
Classic: Porsche 718 Replica
Race:    VW CitiGolf 2.0 8v Race Car

My Wifes Mini is in daily use. Spent quite a bit when renovating to ensure reliabilty. Service it every 6 months, car does roughly 1000km per month. Has electronic ignition so no points to replace. Has K&N air cleaner so no replacement there. So just oil and oil and fuel filter. I use Caltex Delo 400 which is actually a diesel oil with high Zinc content. Plugs get replaced every 2nd service. Fuel consumption around 8l/100km in town.
