the only drawback with gewtting stuff from the
the only hassle is getting long delays if you get stuff sent via mail not courier cos the SAPO and SARS and customs take forever especially if you are in CT where customs have a backlog of 80 000 items!!!. It's taken 2 1/2 months to get a parcel !!!! uk
All you need is a credit card and lots of money (with our rubbish Rand) and ordering from Mini Spares takes about one week. They use DHL and do all the customs work for you.
Forgot to add - Mini SPORT has a poor reputation. (11-03-2017, 01:42 PM)jimmyjamjar Wrote: the only drawback with gewtting stuff from the This isn't really true. It does require some understanding of the tariff codes and making sure that customs knows what to charge duties on. Otherwise parts can arrive within a week. Another option is the companies that import parts from the UK and stock them. There is one that a lot of people recommend, they're very good, although you'd need to call them as they will be able to better help you over the phone: Sports car centre - 011 486 0021 Another new option is the company A-series Garage. It is run by Dominique and Jared (both classic Mini owners and active members on this forum). I've imported parts with them and their service is good. a-series-garage.co.za (Although it looks like the website is still under construction). It might be easier to contact either of them directly.

I agree with all the above as I have gotten stuff from all the suppliers, but still prefer Minispares, however the point I was trying to make was that getting goods sent via the post office which would start off at the Royal Mail side results in it landing up with the South African PO and they are shambolic, at least here in Cape Town, and the Cape Mail hub is Post office , customs and SARS all rolled into one. My UK supplier sent me some items which were incomplete and when they sent the replacement it was sent via Royal Mail not courier as the original shipment was.The invoice was made out as a zero charge and this is what caused me having hassles with customs here who can't understand a zero invoice and want to know the value so they can charge me customs duty again !!!!AAArgh!!!!
Sorry for the rant but really I don't need this frustration in my life

First prize is if you can get them to label " Samples, of no commercial value" Kieron 0848155406

I've dealt directly with both MiniSpares and MiniSport without a single issue over the years, I personally seem to use MiniSport more often as they use UPS for delivery rather than DHL (who are renowned for being useless at calculating duties once your parcel arrives by charging duties on the shipping as well ![]() ![]() ![]() 1979 GTS
