1962 Morris Mini Minor
#1
Photo
I have a fully restored 1962 Morris Mini Minor Mk 1 850. I drove the car to the Mossel Bay Wheels Gathering and won a floating trophy for Organisers and Peoples Choice. I would like to join a classic Mini club in Johannesburg to share my experiences and attend gatherings and runs.

I see that I am a junior member, but am actually 71 years old and spent 8 months restoring the car that has stood for 37 years in a shed in pretoria

Welcome, Tony

I hope you will enjoy the stay here.
This forum is not so busy as the whatsapp group. If you want to join the whatsapp group I am sure that admin will be able to assist you. Regarding clubs in JHB you can join MOCSA. If you need a contact number let me know and I will get you in touch.

Now about your car................STUNNING!!!!. There is no words explain how perfect it is. Lots of us would love to own a car like yours. Maybe I should give you my car for you to restore for me. Well done and I hope you will enjoy every minute of it.

I would like to join  MOCSA Please give me their contact number. The restoration was a labour of love, I either repaired or replaced all the parts that were  not up to standard, Brake shoes, brake drums, wheel cylinders, all hydraulic pipes, both master cylinders, suspension rubbers, shocks and anything else that would make the car safe to drive

Welcome to the forum, Tony Smile Your Mini is stunning! One of the best, if not the best example of an early mk1 Mini in SA. Amazing work that you've done on the restoration of this gem. It's also so cool that you've been taking it around the country to the different classic car shows and letting the public enjoy viewing the car.

Welcome! Sweet looking car , love the two tone , not original but suits the car nicely. Great that you enjoyed the long ride to the coast. Is the Cape Town registration number in the window the original number?

The car is BMC Tartan Red and Old English White, and was first registered in Cape Town in January 1963 as CA. 112-605 It is a 1962 Morris Mini-Minor DE Luxe which came out with two tone paintwork and upholstery as well as bumper over riders as standard. Original colour was Beige and White with red and white upholstery. I have still got the original back seats and inside trimmings, but recovered the front seats with matching colours
